Surrey Garage Cinema Room
Complete Garage Conversion: From Unused Space to Dolby Atmos Home Cinema..
This project involved transforming a single garage into a home cinema which was previously underutilised for storage and too small for modern vehicles. As a fully detached building from the main house, the garage was an ideal candidate for conversion into a dedicated entertainment space.
Additionally, it serves as a drumming practice room, necessitating optimal soundproofing to avoid disturbing the neighbours.
To achieve this, we implemented a room-within-a-room construction technique and installed Rockwool insulation with double layers of plasterboard, effectively minimising sound bleed to the surrounding area.
This soundproofing is crucial given the inclusion of 13 speakers, which create an immersive Dolby Atmos soundstage. Complementing this advanced audio setup is an ultra-short throw 4k projector paired with a 106″ screen, making the space perfect for extended movie marathons.
To finish the room we used our fabric tracking system, this gives a slight helping hand to the acoustics within the room whilst also hiding all of the speakers. And to top it all off, the ceiling is finished with a 900-optic star ceiling.

My partner and I were so pleased with our cinema room and the installation by Pro Media. It came out better than we imagined and has proven an amazing space for friends and family to watch the latest movies.
